Mario Amendola peacefully passed on August 31st, 2016, at the age of 91, on the eve of their 60th wedding anniversary, joining his beloved wife Kathleen. He was born in Chicago Illinois to immigrant Italian parents. His mother and brother died when he was young. He remained a good son to his father Bartolo all his life. He enlisted in the military to serve his country after the attack on Pearl Harbor, but first had to convince his father to sign authorization because he was still a minor. He loved planes and got the chance to work on them during the war. After the war he used his skills as a gifted mechanic. He was easy going, loved comedy and country music, and loved to play harmonica while he played his guitar for everyone. He was a very good, devoted husband to his wife Kathleen and great father to Eugenia Marie and Mario John. He was always supportive in their lives, his son-in law Manuel's, and especially loved his grandchildren Michael, Amy, and Derek. Amy stated "He was the epitome of a loving father and husband. I remember thinking, when I was a kid, that he was the king of guy I wanted to marry. He loved and supported gramma so much, and he was so easy-going. Always laughing and in good spirits..." He was one of the good ones and will be missed.
