My deepest deepest sympathies to the Bermudez family.  I just found out about Rick.  I have nothing but great memories of him.  Rick had a very big heart and made us all laugh.  Prayers to Susan and Jake and the whole family.  It's been a long time since I've seen any of you.  Blessing to all ... RIP Cowboy

Susan and Jake, Lair and I just learned tonight of your loss.  Lair shared with us again tonight some of the police experiences he shared with Rick.  We both agree that its Rick's heart which first comes to mind with the mention of his name.  But, right alongside him, we remember your heart, too.  Both you and he would open your home to friends - both old and new and you cherished giving of yourselves.  We know he loved you both.  Jake can be proud that his Dad touched so many lives.

Rick was a dear friend. He was such a character and came up with the funniest things sometimes. I feel like I've know him forever. I will miss him so much. I will cherish the special conversation I had with him that Wednesday before he passed away. I know how much he loved you Susan and Jake. I think he told me that almost every time I saw him. Kukana, I hope the light of this candle illuminates a peaceful path for you and Jake to steer through while negotiating these trying and turbulent waters. Rick was a great guy, and he will always be a special angel watching over you and Jake.

Rick was always the most loving, caring and generous brother-in-law and Uncle to my daughters, and we will miss him more than words can express. But Rick's compassion and generosity expanded so much farther to everyone he met, and he would always find a way to try and help others, regardless of the situation. Rick was deeply loved by so many, including our family; we have wonderful memories of our times together which are saved in our hearts forever. We will all miss him so very much, but comforted knowing where he is.

Rick always had the ability to make us laugh at ourselves and was a sincere friend when needed. He helped others constantly and offered assistance to the new folk by welcoming them into his world. Though he made us laugh, he was a quick thinker who had the ability to process information rapidly, especially when it mattered most. When lives were on the line. Rick would always put a smile on my face. He was a caring person whose integrity and kindness was a testament to the Department and his family. May the Lord watch over his loved ones.

My brother, friend and old roommate all your brother's and I are going to miss you so much.  There was never a dull moment with you,  I'm  sure your making our Lord laugh by now.

Rick will be remembered as a loyal partner and friend in our law enforcement family. With deepest sympathy.
