Richard was born on November 6, 1939 to Matt and Flora Roberts Reagan in the quaint little town of Marquand, Missouri. He had a great childhood growing up not only in Missouri, but also Michigan and on a farm in Oklahoma. Life was full of adventures with him and his siblings.
Eventually settling in California, Richard worked as an auto mechanic with his dad at the service station he owned in Los Alamitos. After the station was sold, he went to work at Boulevard Buick in Long Beach where he was their break specialist.
Dick was introduced to his brother-in-law’s sister, June Kemp and they say it was love at first sight, but she played hard to get! They were soon married on November 4, 1961 in Long Beach.
Dick enjoyed hunting in Utah, playing cards, traveling with June and a good practical joke, but his greatest pleasure was playing golf. In fact after retiring from Boulevard Buick, Dick decided to combine his mechanical knowledge and his passion for golf and he became the cart manager at Yorba Linda Golf Course. His dream job (if you can call it work) was when he became the marshal at the Navy Golf Course in Cypress!
Dick had the opportunity to play golf in Scotland and Ireland when he qualified for the Senior Pro Am Tour. He also enjoyed playing at so many prestigious courses across the country. He loved sharing the stories of all the great people he met and most importantly the lasting friendship he made with the guys at El Dorado Country Club and the Navy Course.
Although Dick and June had no biological children, they loved, nurtured, and cherished many as their own.
Richard was preceded by his wife June, his father Matt, his mother Flora, his brothers John Reagan and Jim Reagan, his sister Lynda (Sally) Kemp and his nephew Gene Kemp. He is survived by his brother Larry Reagan of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and his sister Jann Hockenberry of Waterford, Michigan, numerous nieces and nephews, and countless friends.
There was nothing Dick loved more than his wife June! How fitting it was for him to be called home on Valentine’s Day to be with his “Forever Valentine”!
He will be greatly missed but never forgotten.
