Missing my big brother.  Remembering how he used to love to play his guitar.

Missing you my brother, Roy 💔.  Till we meet again ❤️🙏.  

I am writing on behalf of the community and neighborhood that Roy, Irene, Michael and Catherine have lived in for so many years..
Roy's garage backs up to mine, and over the years, I have witnessed his warm smiles...when there was time to talk...a great chat or conversation...
Roy was so good with his surrounding neighbors...if any of us needed a jump start for our car battery...a special tool for plumbing..special sprays for the garage door opener...washing the outside of our garage door....just to mention a few of the things he would gladly help out with...
 Roy would happily do...always there to help out...'
Which I am sure so many close friends and family members know all too well...his kind and generous nature...
Plus...it warmed my heart....to see and hear how much he loved his wife and kids..and how gracious he was with his kindness to others...
He is missed by the many neighbors he touched and interacted with over the years...
Thank you Roy... 
You made a big difference in the lives you touched...



My memories of my brother-in-law Roy Garcia include visiting the Wayfarer’s Chapel in Rancho Palos Verdes as well as the Port’s o call village in San Pedro with Irene, Catherine and Michael. He also introduced us to some fine dining for street tacos in East L.A. Walking at Back Bay with the Garcia family and then enjoying a subway sandwich. So many great memories. I will miss him.

My big brother Roy kind,  helpful, musically inclined, special,  funny, loved,  a HEART OF GOLD, always there for me when I needed him.  A "SIMPLE KIND OF MAN" that's what Roy was. There will never be another big brother like Roy, I'm grateful to God for letting me be his Little sister. 

My memories with my Tio Roy include him always playing with my nieces and nephews with a big smile on his face whenever we were all over. Another memorable time was when I went on my first deployment he gave me a small miraculous medal of the Virgin Mary and I carried in my left breast pocket of my uniform for all those years I served. I also remember him always talking about the work he was doing on his cars with Michael and how proud he was if it  and always talking about good  music. RIP Tio Roy 

One year for Ama's birthday the whole family went to Pirate's Dinner Adventure to celebrate. I sat next to Tio Roy and Walk This Way from Aerosmith came on. He couldn't help it so he was rocking out in his seat. He asked me if I liked the song and if I like Aerosmith and I told him that both the song and band was okay. I have always thought of Tio Roy whenever I have heard any song from CCR. He was a very quiet man but he had a big heart. Every time I was in the hospital, he would visit me. I'm going to miss the text message he would send me every year for my birthday. The last text message that he sent me was him telling me that he's glad that I'm happy. He will always be in our hearts and we will always miss him. 

To my dad, Roy Garcia:

There's a lot of memories we share, but here's one I will never forget. The first time you took me for a ride in your car. I had butterflies in my stomach the whole time. The feeling of acceleration was so intense it scared me first, but then I felt safe because I knew you were behind the wheel, Dad.  

I'm going to greatly miss working in the garage and taking the cars on drives with you.  This past year was one of my favorites. (Even though it has been bitter-sweet). Getting your '73 Dodge Charger back in working condition. (Even better condition now). I remembered you talking about it when I was small, but I never imagined how it would feel to drive it.   

I will miss you and the wonderful times we had together.  I'll continue to cherish everything you you did for me. From taking me to karate, Boy Scouts, & drum lessons. To teaching me how to drive a stick shift. I also appreciate that you showed me what real music was. However, what I'll treasure most is you being there for me and the the time we spend working on the cars. 

I remember many of those car explanations. As well as how important it is to be prepared for emergencies (so you aren't left stranded). I also learned you need to take care of things if you want them to work when you need them, and that patience and respect are key. 

At first, I thought you were talking about the cars. But looking back, I realized you weren't just teaching me about cars. You were teaching me about life.

My memories of Roy Garcia are of him helping me with everything from auto repair to home repair. He was always willing to help. Other memories are of him working with his son on his 1989 Mustang. I’ll miss the phone calls from him letting me know about an upcoming car show event and whether I was interested in attending. He will remain with us as long as we remember him and I will always have him in my thoughts and prayers.

To my Godfather Roy Garcia, I didn't appreciate what an amazing man you were. Words can not explain the caliber of person you were. Your ability to not compromise in your beliefs is something that I will take with me the rest of my life.  I have so many memories from my childhood to adulthood its hard to pick just one.  So I am going to talk about some of our more recent memories. I remember coming home from work one day after I had just bought my first home and you were here assembling the gate and fence you had just welded for me. You already been diagnosed at this point and you still completed it even though you didn't have too. You told us you were going to do it so you kept your word and made sure it got done.  It showed the love you had for me and my family. Another memory I have which I will never forget is the love you showed my kids, especially my son. Most Uncles don't play with their nephews son but you did it out of love and joy. You two bonded over your love of cars and I hope that he never grows out of that and I can have that constant reminder of you. I will pray for you forever and we will be reunited one day. We don't realize how much we love someone until they are gone and I wish I had told you how I felt more when I had the chance. 

I will remember everything he’s  done for me including picking me up from school everyday, dropping me off where ever I needed to go, semi-teaching me how to drive, all the guitar/ music lessons he’s taught me, all the times we had going to doctor appointments and all the trouble we almost got into while driving :) (our bad days as he would say) everything I am is because of him. All the freckles I have on my body I will look at them and think about him. All the times I see someone in  need I’ll try and help them because that’s what he would do. I will remember all the funny faces he made when I told him to smile in photos or when I just starred at him because I wanted to remember his face. I will remember and cherish all the times we had breakfast together. I will remember everything. 

One funny memory is when he was walking out of Kaiser and it was very very windy and it was sprinkling. He was walking and his umbrella flipped inside out and he continued to walk because obviously he didn’t want to stop and fix it in the parking lot. And when he finally got to the car I was already laughing and he told me his umbrella flipped and my reply was “I know, I wish I coulda took a picture”  the both of us laughed so hard until tears were coming from my eyes. I will remember his laugh and how small his eyes got from laughing so hard. 

I miss him so much and thank god he was my dad 

My uncle Roy, I will miss you so much. My family and all my kids love you.  When I think of memories, I have different glimpses, All of the special times you spent with us and the love you gave all my children but especially my Jackson, it was truly a  love that was one of a  kind. It’s was like a grandfather love, and I thank you for letting me witness such pure love. Ill never forget the time you picked up Jackson from school (and didn’t have a car seat)  haaa and all the times you got him Mc Donald’s and made him feel special, playing ball with him, him jumping on you and play fighting and those are just some of the loving memories that you gave us. Another memory id like to add is whenever you heard something wrong with my car you were always ready to help me, ready to change my brakes anything wrong you would let me know, my uncle Roy thank you for being such a great person to my family and forever holding those memories close. I love you and miss you 

One of my favorite memories is at Bobs Big Boy restaurant.  My sister and  Roy had just started dating.  We ordered our food but the waitress got our order wrong.  Roy was so emberresed he refused to eat.  I guess Roy felt responsible for the mix up,  and that's just the kind of man he was.  I will miss you brother.   You were always available when we needed you the most.  God bless you!!  You will always be in my prayers!!  Love you  always ,  Lupe Hernandez

I couldn’t have asked for a better brother ❤️  I will cherish all the great times.  Thank you Roy, for being there when I needed you the most.   Thank you for being there for my family.  You were always there for my kids concerts, band events, and other events for my kids.  Love you, and will see you again some day 💔❤️
