On October 14, 1987, God Delivered a handsome baby boy, Marquies' Terrell Smith, to the proud parents Delonda Jackson Rue and Victor Smith.
Marquies' was born at Kaiser Permanente Hospital in Panorama City, California. Marquies' was blessed with a large and loving family. He was the firstborn of three sons. Marquies' was loved by many, and he never met a stranger. He had a contagious spirit and infectious personality that affected everyone he met. Marquies' accepted Christ at an early age and was also a church usher for church services. Marquis attended Union Avenue Elementary School (Los Angeles, CA), then went on to further his education by attending Northridge Middle School (Northridge, CA) and William Howard Taft High School (Woodland Hills, CA). Marquies' completed his schooling at Palmdale High School (Palmdale, CA) the Class of 2005. Marquis decided to further his education at Antelope Valley College (Lancaster, CA). Marquies' was always a very responsible young man. He was always his mother's little man from an early age. He was always very mature and intelligent for his age. Marquies' began working at an early age, at 16 years old to be exact. He started his employment endeavors at Six Flags Hurricane Harbor; he then worked at Game Stop because, as everyone knows, he loved his gaming. He even became a manager (inside joke: Marquies' was such a good worker, not to mention he lied and put on his resume he had managerial experience, and they believed him LAUGH); after that, he began his last job during this time, he was also enrolled into College as a full-time student while he worked at Wal-Mart as a film developer and floor manager. Marquies' then decided he wanted to serve his country. He went in for testing, and as everyone who knew him knew, he was very bright and intelligent, so after testing he was able to enlist in the Navy, which is very high in ranking to serve in the Military.
Marquies' served in the Navy for 4 1/2 years, becoming even more of a TRUE PATRON & HERO. He helped save many lives in Japan during the Isunami Operation Tomodachi in 2011. He loved his navy friends, who became his family very much. He began his journey in the Navy as an undesignated seaman in the deck department, working alongside the boat swain mate. He then transitioned to an Aviation Ordnance Man (AO) as a specialist who handled and maintained all weapons and ammunition as well as building bombs on the Navy Aircraft (USS Ronald Reagan (CVN-76), which is a nuclear-powered aircraft in the United States it is also the ninth ship in the Nimitz-class. Marquies' departed from the Navy with a high-ranking honorable discharge and received many ribbons and metals. He received the National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Sea Service Ribbon three times, Navy Battle "E" Ribbon two times, and First Navy Good Conduct Medal for the period ending September 27, 2010, Humanitarian Service Medal. Marquies was always sharp as a tack. He was always clean-cut. He was never out of place. When he stepped out, he stepped out. He was so Suave that we called him Suave, and he stayed fly. No matter who Marquies' came in contact with, he always had a significant impact on them. His love was unconditional. He always welcomed everyone. He was a very loyal and loving man. Marquies' and his extended brother Scott, who he inherited during his life, walked 11 miles every day. They spent numerous hours together. You see one, you see the other. Marquies' loved to read, play video games, and work out with his heavy-duty weight sets; he also loved spending time with his family as permitted. Marquies' was always the life of the party. He had his own beat, which made him have his own soul. He was always the first on the dance floor. Marquies' was always a special person, even as a kid, until he became an adult; he would go out of his way for anyone he loved.
Marquies' will always be remembered as having a warm and unique smile that would light up any room he entered, accompanied by a warm and infectious laugh. One thing is for sure, and two for certain, he always put GOD first. After Marquies' departed from the Navy, his job of serving his country still needed to be completed. He then began his career as a Veteran Mental Health Motivational Speaker to many others, including some of his own Navy family. While doing so, Marquies' obtained a prominent award from the City of Los Angeles Certificate of Recognition for the UCLA Extension Success Academy signed by the President of the United States. Marquies' was also working to build his career in real estate, for which he obtained his license, and he was working on building his realtor business website. Marquies would also assist his community members, family, and friends in starting their LLCs and Corporations.
However, on Thursday, September 5, 2024, at 5:45 P.M., God saw it fit to call his handsome child home to be in his heavenly garden. May it be some comfort for you to know that our God never fails and never makes a mistake. Marques will forever remain in all our hearts and memories.
