

Richard Charles “Ric” Azzarella, 69 of Lockport passed away on March 22, 2016. Ric was born in Silver Creek, NY on August 17, 1946; son of the late Virginia and Joseph Azzarella. He attended local schools. Following high school Ric enlisted in the U.S. Army and proudly served his country from 1966 through 1968 as an expert marksman and military policeman. He was honorably discharged with the rank of Sergeant.
Following his time in the service Ric embarked on a stellar career as a Law Enforcement Officer with the Lockport Police Department from which he would later retire. Ric also spent some time following his retirement from the police department selling real estate and driving bus for schoolchildren.
In his younger years Ric was a competitive downhill skier, and enjoyed racing his Austin Healy. He later found a love in sailing, and would spend summers in Toronto at the National Yacht Club aboard Elsker Di, his sailboat. He was a past Commodore of the Tuscarora Yacht Club and longtime communicant of All Saints Parish in Lockport.
Surviving are three daughters; Darcy Coffta and her husband Brian of Maine, Wendy Azzarella and her partner Jim VanDeWalker of Attica, Tammy Stachowiak and her husband Greg of Warsaw; grandchildren Jacob, Chase, Tyler, Noah, Jordyn and Benjamin. Also surviving are two brothers, James and Ronald and several nieces, nephews and extended family members. Ric was predeceased by a sister, Judy.
A 10:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial for Ric will be celebrated on June 25, 2016 at All Saints Parish, 76 Church St. Lockport, NY.
Care for Ric and his family has been entrusted to the Sherrie-Bream Funeral Home of Gasport, NY.
