Ann Howe-Gray Lancaster

Frances Ann “Cookie” Howe-Gray Lancaster, 71, passed away December 14, 2015. She was born to the late Robert Judson and Frances Howe Gray December 17, 1943 in Gastonia, NC. Ann was a graduate of Frank L. Ashley High School in Gastonia and went to Saint Andrews Presbyterian College for one year. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Gastonia and Daughter of the American Revolution. Her family will always remember how she loved to garden, knit, sew and travel with her husband in their RV. She especially loved to play Facebook games with her family and friends and drive her blue Convertible Mercedes 380 in Cape Coral, FL with specialized plate ANNS380.

Ann is survived by her husband of 35 years, Earl Lee Lancaster of Cape Coral, FL; children, Suzanne Q Standish, Lavonia, GA, Patricia D Quickel and Paul Blair, Gastonia, NC, John C. Quickel, III and Nikki, Lincoln Park, MI, Elizabeth Q. VanSickle and Verde, New Baltimore, MI; Step-daughters, Melinda Parry, Wyandotte, MI, Michelle Schear, Belkin, IN; brothers and sister, Robert Judson Gray, Jr., Washington, DC, Richard Kelly Gray and MaryAnn of Fernandina Beach, FL; Patricia Lee Thornton and Michael, Pismo Beach, CA; father of their four children, John C. Quickel, Jr, Lincolnton, NC. She loved and cherished her grandchildren, Timothy Bryon Standish Jr., Elizabeth Rose Forrester, Nathan John Standish of GA, Stephanie Ann Wood, Tiffanie Lacy Szymanski and David “Trey” Christopher Carpenter, III of NC, Emily Rose Quickel of MI, Alexander Judson Quickel and Liliane Reade Mason of MI, and five step grandchildren; great-grandchildren, Bethany, Brin and Timothy III, of GA, Bradley, Chloe, Jonathan, Holly, Jaylin and Scarlett of NC; and one great step-grandchild.

A celebration of her life will be held Monday, December 21, 2015 at 1:00 PM at Carothers Funeral Home at Gaston Memorial Park in Gastonia. Dr. John Stanley will preside. Interment will follow at Gaston Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends on Sunday from 11:00 AM - 2:00 PM at Carothers Funeral Home, 2205 Williamsburg Dr, Gastonia.
