He worked at Bryant Supply as a parts sales clerk for many years and was well-known for his dedication to his work.
His love for his church and church family was undeniable, and he was a faithful member of Holland Memorial Baptist Church in Bessemer City. David was also an enthusiastic attendee of gospel singings.
David’s love for children was evident in the way he interacted with them. The children at church always adored him, and he also cherished his adopted grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who often visited him.
As a Korean War Veteran, he took great pride in serving his country and was always willing to share his experiences and love for his country.
For over 30 years, he was a proud Shriner, dedicating his time and energy to the organization. He was also fond of picking up pecans and selling them, earning the affectionate nickname "The Pecan Man."
His service to the Union Road Optimist Club and the community was remarkable, with more than 30 years of outstanding dedication.
A lifelong sports fan, David was especially loyal to his teams—the UNC Tar Heels and the Atlanta Braves.
Travel was another passion of his, and he loved going on cruises—having experienced 15 of them in his lifetime
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in passing by his sister, Peggy Weaver.
He is survived by his son, Anthony Carpenter and partner Dianne Queen Jackson; many nieces, nephews; extended family, Ronnie and Tammy Dale as well as their family, and his Holland Memorial Baptist Church family.
