

DALLAS — Coleman Eugene “Gene” Trantham, 73, passed away Feb. 5, 2012, at Gaston
Memorial Hospital with his loving family by his side.
He was born in Jackson County, son of the late Philip Arthur and Octia Buchanan
Trantham.
Gene was a graduate of Webster High School, Webster, North Carolina,owner of T &
G Machine Company, member of Dallas Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon,
member of the Choir and a former Sunday School Teacher.
Gene loved spending time in the outdoors playing golf and fishing. He enjoyed
traveling with his wife and friends, especially the time he spent in the
mountains. He loved to write stories and poetry and never passed up an
opportunity to sing. Most of all, Gene enjoyed spending time with his family.
Gene is survived by his wife of 51 years, Alva Green Trantham; four daughters,
Cynthia Rouse and husband Mark of Gastonia, Amanda Cline and husband Dell of
Lincolnton, Amy Trantham and Abby Hill of Dallas; two brothers, John Trantham
and wife Hilda, Carl Trantham and wife Jean of Dallas, two sisters, Carrie
Taylor of Dallas, Effie Robinette and husband Joe of McAdenville; nine
grandchildren, Brandon Rouse, Colton Rouse of Gastonia, Lauren Cloninger and
husband Tyler of Dallas, Haley Cline of Lincolnton, Autumn Faile, Coleman
Montgomery of Dallas, Mackenzie Hill, Kylie Hill, Carson Hill of Dallas; one
great grandson, Charles Anderson Cloninger of Dallas.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at Dallas Funeral
Home, 212 West Trade Street, Dallas.
Funeral services will be 2 p. m. Wednesday at Dallas Baptist Church with the
Revs. Bill Abrams, Barron Lee and Leroy Mobley officiating.
Interment will follow at Gaston Memorial Park.
Gene was preceded in death by his parents; five sisters, Thelma Jane Trantham,
Edith Grimsley, Catherine Poole, Faye Hayes, Sara Dills; one brother, Ernest
Trantham.
