Cornelia McMahan Carpenter

Mrs. Carpenter was born Sept. 24, 1922, in Jackson County, daughter of the late Julius and Early Sutton McMahan.

Mrs. Carpenter was a former employee of Pharr Yarns, Inc. and was a member of McAdenville Baptist Church.

Mrs. Carpenter is survived by her son, Roger Carpenter and his wife Phyllis of Grays Chapel, North Carolina; one granddaughter, Lisa Jennings and husband John of Pittsboro, North Carolina; four great-grandchildren, Jamison Holt Moore, Owen Kingsley Moore, Colin Kipp Jennings, Andrew Feran Jennings.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. Thursday at Carothers Funeral Home, Gastonia with a graveside service to follow at 3:30 p.m. Thursday in the War Memorial Section of Gaston Memorial Park with Mr. Dick Roberts officiating.

Mrs. Carpenter was preceded in death by her parents; husband Fred Daniel Carpenter; two sisters, Mary McMahan, Bessie Reece; three brothers, Robert McMahan, Homer McMahan, Paul McMahan.
