Darrell Bernard Williams Sr.

A brilliant businessman, best known for his big smile and giving heart, Darrell Bernard Williams, Sr., of Mount Holly, NC, passed away peacefully December 31, 2024 at age 62 at CaroMont Regional Medical Center in Gastonia, NC.

Darrell was born in Queens, NY on October 26, 1962. He was the oldest of four children with whom he was a fierce protector. He became a young father at the age of 18 and began his career in finance on Wall Street at age 22. Darrell was a member of the Futures Industry Association, and worked for several prominent firms over the course of his 30+ year career, including Brody White & Co., Fimat Futures, Morgan Stanley and Wells Fargo. Darrell enjoyed his work but loved his family even more.

He enjoyed martial arts, movies, cooking, traveling and Bible studies. His greatest joy was being a father to his daughter and son and pop-pop/Big poppa to his grand-children. Darrell was seen as a big brother and father figure to many and often had long conversations to impart his wisdom.

Left to cherish Darrell’s memory are his parents, Vernell Williams of Charlotte, NC and John Williams, Jr. of Milledgeville, GA; wife, Evelyn of Mount Holly, NC; two children, LaChanté Robertson and husband Anthony Robertson of Bellmore, NY and Darrell Williams, Jr. (DJ) and wife Sherry Williams of La Mesa, CA; two grandchildren, Coren and Cairo Robertson; three siblings, Derrick Williams, Nicole Williams Sanford and Natasha Williams-Huff.

A celebration of his life will be held at 1:30 PM, Saturday, January 18, 2025 at Carothers Funeral Home in Gastonia. Reverend Reginald Blackmon will preside.
