Ernest Ray Edwards

Mr. Edwards retired as Director of Public Works in 1997 from the Town of Ranlo.

Mr. Edwards is survived by his wife, Dot Cooper Edwards; two daughters, Janice Hovis and husband Jack of Bessemer City, Lynn Hayden and husband Jamie of Gastonia; one sister, Carrie Palmer and husband Coleman of Maiden; two brothers, Cleatus Edwards of Lincolnton, Fred Banger and wife Brenda of Stanley; four grandchildren, Melissa Alvey and husband Steven of Bessemer City, Monica Dockery of Lowell, Brittany Rudisill and husband Howard of Denver, Tyler Hayden of Gastonia; five great grandchildren, Preston Dockery, Raelyn Dockery, Laney Rudisill, Julius Rudisill, Brayden Alvey.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 P. M. to 8:00 P. M. Wednesday at Carothers Funeral Home, Gastonia.

Funeral services will be 11:00 A. M. Thursday at The Colonial Chapel of Carothers Funeral Home, Gastonia with the Rev. James Chambers officiating.

Interment will follow at Gaston Memorial Park.

Mr. Edwards was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Jeannette Elders; one brother, Roy Edwards.
