Mrs. Frances Quinn Epperson, 91, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 4, 2023 at her residence at Courtyards at Mountain View Senior Living Center in Denver, Colorado. She was a native of Gastonia, North Carolina and the daughter of the late Grady Wesley Quinn and Jeanette Neill Quinn.
Siblings who passed before her include Aline Quinn Owens White, Dorothy Quinn Morris, and Lamar Quinn.
Frances attended Wake Forest University and graduated from Carson Newman University with a degree in education. She enjoyed teaching elementary school for five decades. Frances was a very creative and fun-loving teacher who took a special interest in each of her pupils and made a positive difference in their lives. She could regale the family with stories from the classroom as these memories were some of her most cherished. Frances retired from teaching in 2011 at the age of 79. Frances loved hummingbirds, flowers and attending church wherever her husband, Sid a Methodist minister served. She was very active in her role as the pastor’s wife, teaching Sunday school and attending all church events. She was known for her readiness to laugh and to take photos of EVERYTHING and EVERYONE.
Survivors include her husband of 62 years, Rev. James Sidney (Sid) Epperson; daughters, Cheryl Lynn Epperson Jablonski and son-in-law Mike, and C. Neill Epperson and son-in-law Steve Berkowitz; and three grandchildren, Sam Jablonski, and Rachel and Lily Berkowitz.
The family and friends will gather to remember Frances at 12:00 PM, Sunday, January 15, 2023, at Carothers Funeral Home at Gaston Memorial Park, 2205 Williamsburg Drive, Gastonia, NC with Rev. Tal Madison officiating. A luncheon will follow the service.
The family would like to thank Berkley Hospice of Denver, Colorado for their care of Frances. The family would also like to give a special thanks to her caregivers, Frehiwot and Rahwa Woldemariam who treated Frances and Sid like their own parents. Their hands-on care for Frances night and day during her final weeks allowed Frances to pass peacefully and for the family to enjoy their final days with her.
For persons who desire to make a donation in lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Loray Girls Home in Gastonia, North Carolina https://loraybaptist.org/LGH.html or call the Loray Girls Home at 704-864-2863 for further instructions.
