Freida Elmore Guice

Freida graduated from Belmont High School where she was an original letter girl for Belmont High School. She worked for Pharr Yarns/Stowe Mills in accounting, U.S. Postal Service, and Carothers Funeral Home.

Freida is a lifetime member of Centerview Baptist Church where she was a children’s Sunday school teacher.

Freida is survived by daughter, Andrea Engelhardt and husband Ken of Gastonia; son, Mark Guice of Belmont; four grandchildren, Jason Smith of Charlotte, Laney Hooper and husband Robert of Belmont, Michael Engelhardt of Cramerton and Christopher Engelhardt of Lowell; two non-biological daughters, Jean Carter and Sonny of McAdenville, Shirley Helton and husband Johnny ‘Jigger’ of Belmont.

Freida was preceded in death by her parents; husband, George Calvin Guice; brothers, James Lee ‘Slick’ Elmore, Ernest Leonard Elmore, Paul Edward ‘Tommy’ Elmore, and sister, Nancy Elmore Deaton.

The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Carothers Funeral Home at Gaston Memorial Park, 2205 Williamsburg Drive, Gastonia NC 28054, Monday, May 17, 2021. The funeral will be held at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Gaston Memorial Park, Gastonia, NC.
