James was born Jan. 12, 1929, in Gaston County to the late James D. Carver Sr. and Bertha (Henry) Carver.
James graduated from Frank L. Ashley High School and served in the US Army.
Mr. Carver is survived by one daughter, Myra Holmes and husband Jace of Marietta, Ga., son, Brian Carver and wife, Crystal of Cherryville, stepson, Sean Beaty of Bessemer City; brother, Glen Carver in CA; grandchildren, Crystal and Jessica Holmes, Chase and Trey Carver; step-grandson, Hunter Beaty. Mr. Carver was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Evelyn McMahan Carver and sister, Ann Whitley.
A celebration of James’s life will be held 2 p.m. Friday at Carothers Funeral Home at Gaston Memorial Park.
Burial will be in Gaston Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
