He was born on October 19, 1944 in Lincolnton, NC to the late Ed and Louise Robinette.
Jim honorably served our country in the United States Army. Following his military service, he enjoyed a successful 30-year career in telecommunications before retiring.
Continuing a proud family tradition of public service, Jim followed in his father's footsteps and dedicated himself to serving the community through local government. He began his civic journey on the Planning Board, was later elected to the Town Council, and ultimately appointed Mayor of McAdenville, affectionately known as “Christmas Town USA.” Over more than 20 years, Jim devoted his time and leadership to the town he loved.
In his free time, Jim embraced life with enthusiasm. When he wasn't spending time with his family, he enjoyed bowling, golfing, and shooting pool, and he especially loved cruising in his beloved Corvette. He also took great pride in renovating his lifelong home, always putting care and craftsmanship into every project.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in passing by his daughter, Amy Robinette.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Betty P. Robinette; daughter, Christy Anastasi and husband Tom; grandchildren, Alex Harris, Nicholas Anastasi, Susanna Bowman and husband Jonathan, and Richard Isrel; great grandchildren, Gracie, Sophia, Henry, Thomas, Oliver, Charley, and Evan; and his dear cousin, Judy Rankin.
