James Edward Singleton

James “Jim” Edward Singleton of Gastonia passed away Tuesday December 22, 2015. Jim was originally from Asheville. Jim was born March 31, 1947. Jim is preceded in death by his parents, Wiley Carrol and Josephine Singleton of Chandler, NC and a brother Ricky Singleton.

Jim is survived by his wife Cathy Hallbrook Singleton, brothers J.C. Singleton and wife Jan of Vale, NC, Jerry Singleton and wife Dena of Chandler, NC, Kenneth Singleton of Asheville, sons Daniel James Singleton and Adam Brenton Singleton. Someone he loved as a son Scott Noles, stepdaughter Shan McAteer, step-grandchildren Jordan and Riley.

Jim served in the United States Air Force.

Jim was a graduate of Enka High School. He excelled in the Debate Club and played the trombone in the band with first seat recognition. Jim attended Blanton’s Business College. He was active in Law Enforcement and last served as a Court Mediator. Jim was Market Management and was a Market Merchandiser for Harris Teeter where he retired. Jim was a unique individual. He was well traveled and well liked.

The family will receive friends Sunday, December 27, 2015 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Carothers Funeral Home. A celebration of his life will follow at 2:00 PM in the chapel. Interment will be at Gaston Memorial Park with military honors.
