Jimmy Ray McAlister

Jimmy Ray McAlister, 68, of Gastonia passed away peacefully on Sunday July 16, 2023 at Carolina Care Health in Cherryville. Jimmy was a family man. He was dedicated to his family and especially his grandchildren. He worked hard as a carpenter in the construction industry for many years. He loved to sing and he played the drums. Some in his family suggest he was hardheaded and stubborn. He was clearly set in his ways. He was a huge WWE wrestling fan and he especially enjoyed seeing John Cena perform. Jimmy will be missed by his family, friends and all that knew and loved him.

Jimmy was born January 5, 1955 in Gastonia to Eula Mae (Cooper) McAlister and Grady Ardell McAlister. His wife of over 39 years, Frances McAlister, his son, Jimmy Ray McAlister, Jr. and his parents have all preceded him in death.

Jimmy legacy includes his daughter, Kimberly Myers and sons, Larry Tarbush, Donald Tarbush and Jeremy McAlister. Jimmy leaves behind 14 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, six brothers and five sisters.

Jimmy was a simple man and a simple graveside service and committal is planned for at 2:00 pm on Wednesday July 19, 2023 in The Garden of Pray at Gaston Memorial Park, 2205 Williamsburg Drive, Gastonia, NC. Jimmy will be laid to rest next to his dearly departed wife, Frances. Revered Richard Gadis will officiate.
