Juanita Murray Worley

Juanita Lois Murray Worley, age 91 passed away Wednesday, December 14, 2016 at the Meadowwood Nursing Center in Gastonia, North Carolina. Juanita was a Christian woman who not only talked the talk, but walked the walk. She loved her Lord and Savior, her family and church where she was a devoted member that sang in the choir and was a Sunday school teacher. Juanita’s blood ran blue; that meant Carolina Tar Heel Blue. She was a huge UNC Basketball fan, played guard on her High school basketball team and loved all other sports as well. Juanita enjoyed playing golf and in her retirement years recorded a Hole - in- One. When she wasn’t watching sports or playing golf, she was relaxing in her flower garden where she found peace and tranquility. Juanita had the proverbial green thumb!

Juanita was the daughter of the late Omer Murray and Belle Brantley Murray. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 54 years, Leo Robert Worley and daughter Beverly Thorne; three sisters: Lillie Murray, Edna Harnage and Geri Murray; four brothers: Ben Murray, Millard Murray, Mack Murray and George Murray.

Those left to cherish Juanita’s precious memories and carry on her legacy are her daughter and son in law: Myra and John Bell of York, South Carolina; four sons and daughters in law: Roger Nolan Worley, Kenneth Robert and Sue Worley, Tony Ray Worley, Jeffrey Lynn Sr. and Tammy Worley all of Gastonia, North Carolina; one sister: Carolyn Murray of Adel, Georgia; eleven grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and numerous special friends also survive.

A Celebration of Life ceremony will be conducted at 2:00 PM Sunday, December 18, 2016 at Maranatha Church with Reverend Jeremy Burrell to deliver words of comfort to her family and friends. Active pallbearers are Ken Worley, Jeffrey Worley II, Roddy Worley, Ryan Worley, Dalton Worley, Devan Worley, Patrick Stamey, Ashley Thorne and Jeremy Thorne.

Graveside and committal service will follow at Gaston Memorial Park in War Memorial I Garden where she and her husband will lie in peace together.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM ~ 7:00 PM Saturday, December 17, 2016 at Carothers Funeral Home, 2205 Williamsburg Drive, Gastonia, North Carolina.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be given to the Maranatha Church of God, 2435 Redbud Drive, Gastonia, North Carolina 28056.
