

June Ella Cornelissen Stephens, age 78, of Lake Wylie, South Carolina and formerly of Gastonia, died at her home on Saturday, August 21, 2010. She was born in Bonsack, Virginia and was the daughter of the late Herman and Thelma Mills Cornelissen.
June will be remembered by her beautiful smile, her love of her husband and family. When June was 50 she graduated from CPCC Nursing School. She worked many years at Belmont Abbey College Monastery.
After a life traveling around the world while her husband was in the Air Force, the Stephens family settled in Gastonia.
Mrs. Stephens is survived by her husband of 60 years,Thomas D. Stephens; four daughters: Evelyn J. Hunt of Minnesota, Teresa K. Moose of Lowell, Susan S. Clements and husband Ronnie, Mary S. Gordon and husband Steve both of Belmont; four sons: Keith Stephens and wife Debbie Hyman of Tega Cay, South Carolina, James W. Stephens of Huntersville, Mike Stephens and wife Liz of Panama City, Florida, Chuck Stephens and wife Sharon of Gastonia; fifteen grandchildren and spouses; 7 ½ great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 P. M. to 8:00 P. M. Monday at Carothers Funeral Home, Gastonia and at other times, the family will be at the home of Susan and Ronnie Clements, 16 Forest Hill Road, Belmont.
Funeral services will be 1:00 P. M. Tuesday at First United Methodist Church, Belmont with the Rev. Mark Andrews officiating.
Interment will follow at Gaston Memorial Park.
Mrs. Stephens was preceded in death by her parents; brother and sister-in-law: Nelson and Marie Cornelissen, two year old sister: Marie Evelyn Cornelissen; in-laws: James and Helen Stephens; son-in-laws: David Moose, Gary Hunt.
