Lisa Marie (Henderson) Cook, 58, of Newton passed away peacefully Tuesday April 19, 2018 surrounded by her family. Lisa loved her children and grandchildren more than anything. She enjoyed shagging, crocheting, coloring, karaoke and home decorating. She loved plants and gardening. Her family says she had a green-thumb. Lisa also enjoyed video games and she was a master at Sudoku. You could also find Lisa scratching off lottery tickets. She especially loved the Crossword scratch off. She was an active person who was full of life. She will be dearly missed by many.
Lisa is the daughter of the late Marie (Norris) and Norman Henderson Sr. Also preceding her in death is her brother; Eddie Henderson.
Lisa is survived by her daughter Candise “Michelle” Thomas and son Gary Thomas. Her significant other was Kent Currin. Sisters Dody Boggs and husband Mark and Erica (Henderson) Miller and husband Steven and sister-in-law Darlene Henderson are also are grieving Lisa’s passing. Fondly remembering their grandmother are grandchildren: Jackson Thomas, Samantha Privett, Caleb Thomas and Nicholas Privett.
Family and friends will gather to Celebrate Lisa’s Life at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, April 21, 2018 in the Chapel at Carothers Funeral Home at Gaston Memorial Park, 2205 Williamsburg Drive, Gastonia. Reverend Richard Cole will offer words of encouragement and hope to family and friends who gather to remember Lisa.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. prior to the service at Carothers Funeral Home.
Committal will follow the Celebration of Life Service in the Garden of Peace at Gaston Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that funds be directed to Carothers Funeral Home at Gaston Memorial Park to defray the costs of the funeral services.
