Born in Manhattan, NY on September 12, 1927, Lopi was the daughter of Greek immigrants, Stelianos “Stelio” and Fotica Djahilis Mavricos. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her younger sister Xanthippe “Sandy” Siskos and her loving husband of 59 years, Seymour “Sy” Shved.
Despite her quiet demeanor, Lopi left a lasting impression on all who knew her.
Lopi is survived by her daughter Marisa Shved Marder and husband Tony; son Lonny Shved and wife Carol; and grandchildren Elyse Marder and David Marder. She was a beloved and devoted mother and grandmother, known affectionately as “Grammy” to her grandchildren.
Entombment will be at 11 am on Monday, June 16, 2025, at the Mausoleum of Peace, Gaston Memorial Park, 2205 Williamsburg Drive, Gastonia, NC. Dr. Charles Brown will officiate.
The family extends heartfelt appreciation to their Terrace Ridge “family” for their loving care and to the hospice team of Carolina Caring for their compassion and support.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Lopi’s memory to Breakthrough T1D (formerly the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, JDRF), PO Box 5021, Hagerstown, MD, 21741 or online at www.breakthrought1d.org/donate.
