

Patsy Sue Worrells Benton, 77, passed away peacefully Friday December 30, 2016 at the Robin Johnson House in Dallas. Patsy loved her family and the color pink. She would often bake brownies with marshmallows for her family. She loved to sing and to take care of others. Patsy was a sharp dresser who never passed up a bargain.
Patsy is the daughter of the late Walter Worrells and Mabel Price Worrells. She was preceded in death by one sister, Jean Hopper.
Left to cherish her memory is her daughter Laura Williams and husband Tim of Gastonia, brother Bobby Worrells and wife Bobbie Lou of Gastonia and brother in law Bill Hopper of Gastonia. Patsy also leaves many nieces and nephews and her beloved poodle, Scooter Benton.
The Benton family recognizes Patsy’s “second family,” the staff at Carillon Assisted Living in Cramerton, for the excellent care they gave Patsy in her sunset years. She was so happy there and truly loved all that cared for her.
A celebration of Patsy’s life will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday January 2, 2017 in the chapel at Carothers Funeral Home at Gaston Memorial Park, 2205 Williamsburg Drive, Gastonia. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Committal will follow at Gaston Memorial Park in the Hillcrest Garden.
In Lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made in Patsy’s name to the Alzheimer’s Association, 225 N. Michigan Avenue, Floor 17, Chicago IL 60601 or Alz.org
