

Born in York, SC, he was the son of the late Andrew and Beulah Worthy Jordan. Mr. Jordan was a graduate of Highland High School and received his Bachelor’s degree in Music from Tennessee State University. He earned his Masters of Music degree from the University of Illinois. Mr. Jordan was a Band Director with the Bibb County School System in Macon, GA, before becoming an Assistant Professor and Band Director at Kentucky State University.
He retired from the Gaston County School System having been the Band Director at East Gaston High School and Ashbrook High School. Mr. Jordan was a member of the Epsilon Upsilon Chapter of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity. He was also a member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church. He loved music, and while the trombone was his instrument, he could play any instrument in the band.
In addition to his wife of 58 years, Mr. Jordan is survived by two daughters, Ramona Jordan and Audrey Jordan; and three cousins, Robin Lark Hanson, James Worthy, and Ervin Worthy, Jr.
Private funeral services will be held by the family. The service will be live-streamed on the Carothers Funeral Home at Gaston Memorial Park Facebook page on Sunday, February 7, 2021 beginning at 2:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, the family intends to establish a scholarship fund in Mr. Jordan's name to be utilized for students who intend to pursue education in music. Contributions may be made payable to Audrey Jordan and mailed to PO Box 551264, Gastonia, NC 28055.
The Jordan Family extends heartfelt gratitude to all who have supported our family through this very difficult time.
