Raymond Kenneth Young

Raymond “Ray” Kenneth Young, age 88, of Charlotte died Tuesday August 10, 2010 at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.

Mr. Young was a native of Coffee County Georgia, the son of the late Charles O. and Gaynelle Ward Young, a member of Paw Creek Presbyterian Church where he served as a Deacon and Elder.

Mr Young was a Eagle Scout, a US Army Veteran of WWII, a member of Charlotte Civitan Club and was retired from Inland Container Corporation. He attended North Carolina State University and he enjoyed gardening and tennis.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years; Edna Reel Young, a son; Steven K. Young and wife Lisa Isenhour of Marietta, Georgia, two daughters; Susan Y. Helms and husband Dean of Smithfield, Virginia, Kathryn Y. McDowell and husband Jeffery of Slidell. Louisiana, two brothers; Rodney E. Young and wife Doris, A. Keith Young, Sr. and wife Katherine all of Gastonia, seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother; Martin O. Young.

A celebration of life service will be held 12:00 PM Friday at Paw Creek Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Gary Bryant officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 11:00 AM to noon prior to the service. Burial will be at Forest Lawn West Cemetery at a later date.
