

A native of Roan Mountain, Tennessee, he was the son of the late Ed and Annie Sims Oxendine.
He was a United States Navy WW II veteran and member of Life Church in Cramerton. He retired from Burlington - Mayflower Plant and worked at Matthew Belk.
He is survived by his son, Rev. Sammy Oxendine and wife Helen of Cramerton; brother, Tom Oxendine and wife Marie of Elizabethton, Tn.; granddaughters, April Ray and husband Chris, Alison Liscum and husband Steven, Amy Odom and husband Layne; and 9 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Tilda Anders Oxendine; brothers, John Oxendine, Raymond Oxendine, Dan Oxendine; and sister, Wanda Oxendine Crowe.
A funeral service will be held at 1pm Friday in the Colonial Chapel of Carothers Funeral Home in Gastonia with Rev. Sammy Oxendine and Rev. Steven Liscum officiating.
Burial will be at Gaston Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from noon until 1pm at the funeral home prior to the service.
