Suzanne Smith Elliott, 84, of Gastonia went to be with the Lord on February 18, 2022. Born April 24, 1937 in Clinton, SC; she was the daughter of the late Rev. Dr. James C. and Hattie M. (Blakely) Smith. She was the wife of the late Rev. Dr. Robert B. Elliott Jr. whom she married on April 3, 1959 in Clover, SC.
She was a graduate of Clover High School, class of ’55 and Erskine College where she received her Bachelor of Arts degree on January 31, 1959.
Suzanne was a member of Pisgah A.R.P. Church in Gastonia, NC where her husband was pastor from 1963 until 1985. While being a devoted pastor’s wife, she was the Historian for Pisgah A.R.P. Women’s Ministry as well as a Life Member of the same ministry. She was also Treasurer of the Suzanne Elliott Circle and President of the Pisgah Community Club.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Robin (Darrell) Elliott Shealy, Julie (Everette) Elliott Mooneyhan, Rev. Robert “Bob” (Lorie Dean) Elliott, III and Lisa (Mark) Elliott Dodd; grandchildren, Joseph (Amber) Shealy, Anna (Martin) Pruitt, John Shealy, Alex Mooneyhan (Leah Owens), Adam Mooneyhan, Blakely Elliott, Robert “Bo” B. Elliott, IV, Sarah (Joseph) Long, Matthew Dodd and Jacob Dodd.
Funeral Service 3 p.m. Wednesday, February 23, 2022 at Pisgah A.R.P. Church, 3600 Linwood Road, Gastonia, NC. Visitation 1:30 p.m. until the time of service in the church sanctuary. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Pisgah A.R.P. Church or Bonclarken Conference Center.
