

She was born to the late Finley Manning and Lorene Manning, March 30, 1930, in Louisville, Kentucky. Amber graduated valedictorian from Ahrens Trade High School. She married the late Barney Harris in 1950, and they lived together in Austin, Texas before relocating to Georgetown, Texas.
Amber began her working career for Bell Telephone and retired as a bookkeeper for developer L.O. Jackson in Oak Hill, Texas. Amber was an active member of First Baptist Church of Oak Hill, where she served as choir director for many years. Her hobbies included painting, cake decorating and stained glass. She attended dinner with LBJ, traveled the ALCAN Highway, recorded a gospel record with her uncles; but most of all, she sang in church with a powerful soprano voice that rivaled the angels.
Amber is preceded in death by her mother and father, brother Shannon, daughter Dawn and husband Barney.
She is survived by her brother, Fred Manning and wife, Joan; children, Tye Harris, Clay Harris and wife Laura Cartwright, and Anita Grant and husband Richard; and grandchildren, Ryan Harris and Alex Grant.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, February 22, 2014 at Cook-Walden Davis Funeral Home in Georgetown, Texas.
