Amelia’s family will gather for visitation on Monday, February 25, 2013, which would have been Amelia and Felix’s 57th wedding anniversary, from 6:00PM to 8:00PM at The Gabriels Funeral Chapel, 393 North IH, Georgetown, with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, February 26, 2013 at 10:00AM at Santa Rosa de Lima Catholic Church 6571 FM 970, Andice, TX. Interment will follow at Florence City Cemetery where her 7 grandsons will honor her as pallbearers. Amelia was born January 18, 1935 in Mexico to the late Andres and Carlota Vasquez Solis. Amelia was taught at a young age the importance of family and was guided to place her faith and her Church first in her life. Amelia married the love of her life, Felix Ramirez on February 25, 1956 at Santa Rosa de Lima Church in Andice. Together, Felix and Amelia started their family and set their roots in the Florence area. Amelia worked for many years as a custodian at Florence High School, but her true passion in life was her family and her church. She was a devout Catholic and spent many hours in prayer. She was a long time active member of Santa Rosa de Lima Catholic Church, participating in various church activities. Amelia’s legacy is how she modeled her faith in all she did in life and how that faith, through her beloved rosary, bonded her family together. They would meet every Sunday for family dinner, a tradition she continued from her mother-in-law, Maria Ramirez. When Amelia became ill, to continue her tradition, the family prepared tamales and other traditional recipes in her honor. Amelia enjoyed sewing, gardening and simply adored her grandchildren. Amelia is preceded in death by her parents, Andres and Carlota Solis; and her brothers, Casimiro, Pedro, Juan, Enrique, and Nicolas. Amelia leaves behind to continue her legacy her loving husband of 57 years, Felix Carranza Ramirez; her children, David Ramirez and his wife Ana, Daniel Ramirez and his wife Lucy, Sandra Meredith and her husband David, Jr., and Samuel Ramirez and his wife Connie; her grandchildren, Christopher Andrew “Andy”, Gregory Matthew “Matt”, Manuel Antonio “Meme”, Sergio “Serg”, Sara, Samantha, Carmen Victoria “Tori”, Emilio “Milo”, Alejandro “Hondo”, John Joseph “JoJo”, and Rosie; her siblings, Alejandro Solis, Concepcion Ramirez, Anita Gamboa, and Demetrio Solis; along with numerous other loving family and friends. In lieu flowers donations may be made to Annunciation Maternitiy Home. Personal words of comfort may be sent to the family online at www.gabrielsfuneral.com.
