

She is preceded in death by her parents, Vernon and Florence Ortbal Bryant, daughter Cynthia Mokry Schumann, and grandson Dylan Schumann.
She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Victor W. Mokry; son, Bryan Mokry and wife Carrie of Newport News, Virginia; four grandsons, Hunter Schumann of Georgetown, Texas; Leighton Schumann, fiancé Cynthia Geer, and her son Randy Geer of Austin, Texas; and Parker and Travis Mokry of Newport News, Virginia; great grandson Thaddeus Schumann of Spokane, Washington; sister, Kathryn Bludau and husband Gerald of Victoria, Texas; and brothers James Bryant and wife Mary of Dripping Springs, Texas, and Jerry Bryant and wife Peggy of Montgomery, Texas.
Barbara was active at St. Helen's Catholic Church. She was in the ladies' club, served as Eucharistic Minister and Coordinator, Daily Sacristan, and taught Religious Education for 25 years. She served on the Bereavement committee and was a member of the Perpetual Adoration Society.
She was active in scouting, having been a scout in her elementary, junior, and high school years, a Brownie and Cub Scout leader as a young mother, and in Boy Scouts as treasurer of her grandsons' troop in Georgetown. Barbara and her husband loved travel and have visited over 61 countries in Europe, Africa, and South America, as well as all 50 States.
She attended high school at Ursuline Academy in Laredo, Texas. In her junior year, she won 1st place for entry by a female in the city wide science fair. She took her project to regional in Corpus Christi, Texas and won an award for best entry in the medical field. She continued her love for medical science in college at Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas where she earned her BS degree in Medical Technology. She worked at the Austin State Hospital and Seton Hospital in Austin, DeTar Hospital, and finally, as lab supervisor, then consultant, for the Victoria Women's Clinic Lab in Victoria, Texas.
A visitation for Barbara will take place Monday, September 29, 2025 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, with a rosary occurring at 7:00 PM, at Cook-Walden Davis Funeral Home, 2900 Williams Drive, Georgetown, Texas 78628. Funeral mass will occur Tuesday, September 30, 2025 at 10:00 AM at St. Helen Catholic Church, 2700 E University Avenue, Georgetown, Texas 78626, with a luncheon to follow until 12:00 PM. Barbara will be privately laid to rest following services.
