Bart's early education began in San Benito, TX, before he moved to Houston, where he attended Memorial High School. Despite his father's initial hopes for him to pursue another trade, Bart's passion for music was undeniable. He became a professional guitarist, a calling that truly resonated with his soul. His musical journey led him to Austin in the mid-1970s, where his performances at notable venues like Auditorium Shores and Blues on the Green solidified his path as a gifted musician.
Beyond his music, Bart cherished the ocean and found solace in fishing, activities that complemented his peaceful and loving nature. He shared his life with his beloved wife, Sara Hansen Madeley, and was a devoted father to their two sons, Bart Madeley Jr. and Sam Hunter Madeley. His family circle included his brother Mark Madeley, his wife Carol, his nieces Minta Brodzinski (Phil) and their daughters Sonia and Lillian, Michelle Madeley, and Bonnie Madeley, as well as his uncle Mike Hervey. Bart's family legacy continues with numerous cousins across Texas.
Bart was preceded in death by his parents, Neil and Mary Polley Madeley, his grandparents Minta and A.M. Hervey, Neil Madeley Sr. and Eunice Madeley, and his aunts and uncles Judy Hervey, O.H. Polley, Nell Polley, and Bill and Olive Reed.
