

Betty Sue Barker, 92, died peacefully February 17, 2024, with her daughters at her side. She was born October 10, 1931, in Georgetown to Truman Curtis Green and Sophie Edna Singleton. Except for a short time in Burnet County, Betty grew up and lived in the Georgetown area all of her life. She married the love of her life, Wilburn Louis Barker, on March 6, 1952, in Bertram by Reverend John McClish, Jr. She and Wilburn were married 54 years until Wilburn’s death in 2006 Betty was a longtime member of the Strickland Grove Church of Christ. For many years, Betty kept records for the Berry’s Creek Cemetery Association. She was a homemaker and an avid seamstress; she crocheted, painted and was a very creative woman. She was very proud of her family and adored her grandkids and great grandkids. Betty was preceded in death by her darling husband Wilburn, son-in-law Joseph Allen Powell, brothers William Lewis Green, Sr. and Truman Curtis Green, Jr. She is survived by her four daughters Janet Miller and husband, Fred, Barbara Hanusch and husband David, Nancy Tschoerner and husband Clifford, and Carolyn Dunagan and husband Daniel. Also surviving are brother James Green, sister Peggy Green and sister-in-law Judy Roberts. Also surviving are seven grandchildren: Chris Hanusch (Sarah), Kristi Laas (Eric), Cliff Tschoerner (Becky), Jody Powell (Jalynn), James Powell (Kara), Josh Powell (Mery) and Travis Powell (Julia), and thirteen great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, cousins, relatives and friends. Pallbearers will be the grandchildren. Honorary pallbearers are the great grandchildren.
