

Carroll Wayne Gregory, 80, of Georgetown entered into rest April 29, 2010 at his home surrounded by his family. The family will receive friends from 4:00-6:00 pm on Sunday, May 2, 2010 in The Gabriels Funeral Chapel in Georgetown. Rev. Debra Crumpton will officiate at the funeral service to be held at 11:00 am on Monday, May 3, 2010 in Wellspring United Methodist Church in Georgetown. Interment will follow in IOOF Cemetery. Carroll was born in Gainesville, Texas on July 12, 1929 to George Worth and Mina Caroline (Ramsey) Gregory. He graduated from Gainesville High School in 1947. He served in the Navy from 1947-1950. On leave, he met his future wife of 59 years, Sylvia Smith at his best friend’s house in Gainesville. They married on November 5, 1950. He received his Bachelor of Science in Business from North Texas State University and his Master’s in Health Care Administration from the University of Texas in Houston. He served as a hospital administrator in Jacksboro from 1960-1963. He oversaw the building of the Ballenger Hospital from 1963-1965. From 1965 to 1967 he was a Clinic Manager in Denton. The family then moved to Austin where he worked for the Texas Health Department from 1967 to his retirement in 1997. He and his wife moved to Sun City to enjoy their retirement years. Carroll was a founding member of the C.O.P.S. organization, active member of Wellspring UMC, and the O.F.C. Carroll is survived by his loving wife, Sylvia Gregory of Sun City; sons, Jeff and his wife Kathy of College Station, Trent and his wife Juliana of Austin; grandchildren, Casey, Madison, Gayla, and Garrison; great grandchildren, Aaron, Shelbi, Hayli, Noah, and future great grandson Ewan; sister, Glenna Magee and her husband Jim of Georgia; sister in-laws Golda Pirkey and Nancy Idell; brother in-law Billy Smith.
