

Charles "Chuck" Ernest Martin, Jr. was born on August 25, 1925 in Pearsall, Texas to Charles Ernest Martin, Sr. and Elsie Henrietta Rothe. He peacefully left this earth on February 24, 2016. After Chuck graduated from high school, he went on to pursue a BS in Physics from the University of Texas at Austin. It was at UT that he met Dale Laird, who immediately became the love of his life. Chuck and Dale celebrated 68 years of marriage in January 2016. After graduating from UT, he worked as physicist in the Defense Research Lab in Austin. He also proudly served his country for 3 years during World War II as a member of the U.S. Marine Corps.
In 1954, Chuck and Dale returned to his hometown of Pearsall so that he could open up his own insurance and real estate business. In addition, he continued to be active in his family’s ranching operations in Medina County. After moving back to Pearsall, he became active with the local Boy Scout organization, serving as Scoutmaster for many years. He also served on the Board of Directors for Security State Bank.
Chuck was an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Pearsall and sang in the choir there for over 40 years. After he and Dale moved to Georgetown, Texas in 1994, they affiliated with the First United Methodist Church where he was active with the Pathfinders Sunday School Class and the Walk to Emmaus. Chuck was very active in the Georgetown community and gave many hours of service to the PALS program at First United Methodist Church and the Partners in Education Program through the Georgetown School District. He was honored as Mentor of the Year in 1995-1996 by the Partners in Education Program for his work with special needs students. For his entire adult life, Chuck was active in the Rotary Club and particularly enjoyed his role as song leader in the Pearsall Club. He and Dale were active supporters of the Rotary Youth Exchange Program and were also both Paul Harris Fellows.
He is survived by his wife, Dale; daughter, Jill Martin Seibert; son-in-law, Jeffrey Glenn Seibert; grandson, William Seibert; granddaughters, Jordan Elizabeth Seibert and Brandy Martin Eoff; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his beloved son, Eric Lynn Martin.
