
Colleen grew up in Uvalde, Texas and graduated from Uvalde High School. She attended Trinity University receiving a Bachelor of Music degree in 1955. She received a Master of Music degree from University of Iowa in vocal performance and pedagogy. She was a member of Texas Music Educators Association and the National Association of Teachers of Singing. Colleen was dearly loved by all her students and prepared many for careers in singing. Mary Jane Johnson, noted operatic soprano from Amarillo, Texas, was one of her students. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was treasured by her family.
She is survived by her husband Rollie; daughter Carrie Krause and husband Kerry of Woodinville, Washington and Elisse De La Vega and husband Raymond of San Antonio, Texas; grandchildren Allison Krause, Emily Krause, Benjamin Krause, and Katie De La Vega; a sister, Carolyn Sawyers of Post, Texas, and a brother, Jerry Henderson of San Antonio, Texas. She was preceded in death by brothers Jack and Joe Henderson of Uvalde.
Private family services are planned.
