

Donald Elmer Broeren, 78, of Leander, Texas went to be with the Lord on October 11, 2013 following a lengthy illness. He was born in Reseburg, Wisconsin on May 17, 1935 to Elmer and Matilda Albenia (Cesafsky) Broeren. After graduating from Stanley High School in 1953, he served his country honorably in the United States Air Force. He met his wife, Jane, in Denver and they married on August 25, 1956 in Raton, New Mexico. Don worked for IBM for 32 years before his retirement. Don was an avid fisherman and enjoyed bowling, traveling for reunions with his family and his involvement with the Elks Lodge. He was dearly treasured by a large circle of friends and family, and was truly a blessing to all who knew him. Mr. Broeren is preceded in death by his parents and his wife, to whom he was married for 55 years. He is survived by his daughter, Marjorie Kitzman (Leander, Texas); son Fredric Broeren (Austin, Texas); son Douglas Broeren and his wife, Deborah (Rochester, Minnesota); daughter Gwen Ross and her husband, Richard (Louisville, Colorado); son Jon Broeren and his wife, Melissa (Leander, Texas); daughter Cynthia England and her husband, Mark (Leander, Texas); siblings: Theodora Gallentine, Marge Schmidt, Patrick Broeren, Kay Pingle, Russ Broeren, Mary Ellen Gruber and Jim Broeren; 14 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. Donald also leaves behind many relatives, good friends and devoted neighbors, especially the Nelson Family (Wilcox, Nebraska), and Mrs. Fred (Patricia) Oeltjenbruns (Kasson, Minnesota). A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, October 15, 2012 at 6 PM at The Gabriels Funeral Chapel in Georgetown, Texas.
