Dora Lee Place

Dora Lee Place, aged 83 years, passed away on January 28. Dora was born in Parkersburg, West Virginia. She graduated from Mountain State Business College. She met Dale Hubert Place, and they married and left West Virginia for Abilene so Dale could attend college. Dora and Dale moved to the Arlington, Texas area after Dale completed his degree. They had their first son, John, while living in Arlington and moved shortly thereafter to Austin, Texas, where their second son, Steven, was born. The family lived together in Austin, Georgetown, Andice, and Leander, Texas.

Dora was a two-time cancer survivor who loved being a mother, life on the farm, gardening, purple martins, being outside, and the color of the sky. Dora was preceded in death by Dale, who passed away on October 11, 2024, and is survived by her two sons, John (Rachel) Place and Steven (Kimberly) Place, and her grandchildren, Justin, Allison, and Gabriel.

A visitation for Dora will be held Thursday, February 6, 2025 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Cook-Walden Davis Funeral Home, 2900 Williams Drive, Georgetown, TX 78628. A funeral service will occur Friday, February 7, 2025 at 10:00 AM at Cook-Walden Davis Funeral Home. Dora will be laid to rest following the service at Matsler Cemetery, Florence, TX.
