

Edwin George Schneider, 97, of Georgetown, passed away on Monday, February 16, 2015. A memorial service celebrating his life will be held on Thursday, February 19, 2015 at 10:30 am at Christ Lutheran Church, 510 Luther Dr, Georgetown, TX. Interment will be private. Mr. Schneider was born January 21, 1918 in Ballinger, Texas to George and Linda Schneider. His family moved to the Dripping Springs/Blanco area to ranch sheep, goats, and Hereford cows. He graduated as valedictorian from Dripping Springs High School. Following his graduation from high school, he served the United States in the U.S. Army Air Corps in World War II 49th Air depot division. Following his discharge from the Air Force in 1946, he married Anna Lou Polvado on May 25, 1946. Together he and Anna raised a family and shared the joys of life together for more than 68 years. He started an appliance/television sales and service business in Georgetown in 1949 and it prospered until 1973 when he sold the business. He continued to service appliances for many years after. He then invested into commercial properties building two commercial strip centers and later acquired another. In 2006, son Scott added another center expanding the family partnership. Mr. Schneider served as a director for Georgetown Chamber of Commerce, President of the Optimist Club, director of Georgetown Savings and Loan, Member City of Georgetown Urban Renewal Board, and chairman to Boy scouts Troop 151. Mr. Schneider loved to fish at Lake Buchanan and served up many a fish fry for friends and family. He loved to play dominoes and bridge enjoying fellowship and telling a few jokes. Mr. Schneider volunteered many hours at the Caring place and Georgetown Visitor center. Mr. Schneider is preceded in death by his parents; two children: Michael Edwin Schneider and Beverley Joyce Schneider; and a sister, Juanita Lee. He is survived by his wife, Anna Lou; son, Scott D. Schneider and wife Tammy of Georgetown; grandchildren: Cori Krause and husband John of Austin, Randa Chapman and husband Ryan of Georgetown, Ryan Schneider and wife Rebecca of Milton, Florida, Kara Scow and husband Matthew of Dallas, Kelley Ewald and husband Bret of San Diego, CA and Deirdre Schneider of Dallas; great-grandchildren: Coleson and Cody Chapman, Tallulah, Zoe and Aife Schneider, Davny and Gadsden Scow, and Isla and Bree Ewald; niece, Barbara Supak and husband Adolf of Georgetown, and other loving family and friends. Memorial contributions may be directed in Mr. Schneider's name to: American Lung Cancer Association.
