After retirement, Joy and Ray moved from Bridge City to Georgetown to be near their daughters. Her sister-in-law and sidekick in fun, Omie (Milledge) Bonham also moved to Georgetown to be near their children and to enjoy the beauty of central Texas.
Joy was a beautiful person, both inside and out. Her warmth and compassion touched everyone she met. She was the cornerstone of her family providing unconditional love and support. She took great pride in her role as a grandmother, cherishing every moment spent with her beloved grandson, Memphis. Beyond her immediate family, Joy was the matriarch to many nieces and nephews, always offering guidance, encouragement, and affection to those around her. Her legacy of devotion, kindness, and strength will continue to inspire all who knew her.
Joy had exquisite taste in fashion, every outfit was thoughtfully coordinated, from her jewelry and handbags to her shoes. Joy was known for her beauty, wearing fresh makeup and her signature lipstick. She also had a passion for seasonal decorating, shopping and hosting family gatherings; holidays were always filled with love, laughter and fabulous food.
She was known for her sassy humor, keen memory of funny quotes from family and friends and love of games of chance especially when held in a casino. Joy and Omie, her partner in slot machine madness, traveled as often as possible to try their luck. And luck they had! Joy also enjoyed neighborhood Bunco parties, where her competitive spirit and enthusiasm for the game were always welcome additions to the festivities.
