Frank Charles Krenek Sr.

Frank Charles Krenek, Sr. passed from his earthly life on Sunday, December 8, 2019. He was a man of integrity, a devout Catholic, loved by many, and will be greatly missed. He was born September 23, 1931 in Buckholts, Texas to Paul William Krenek and Hermina Sophie Mikulec Krenek. His sister Norma Lee was born three years later. He was 100% Czech and started the first grade not being familiar with the English language. He was a third generation Texan and a proud supporter of Texas A&M.His family moved to Maraksville, then to Beyersville before ultimately settling in Taylor for the rest of his lifeHe married the love of his life G. Ann Mokry, October 9, 1954 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Taylor, Texas. They began their life in Taylor and raised six children. They were both graduates of St. Mary’s Catholic School.He served in the National Guard for 13 years and in 1961 he was sent to Fort Polk, Louisiana with his wife and four children where he served for one year active duty in the Army as a Sergeant First Class tank commander. Frank was employed by Merchants Press in Taylor and for 35 years at the Texas Highway Department headquarters in Austin, Texas. He was a printer and became the duplication supervisor overseeing the printing of documents for the highway department and for the state capital. He served as Boy Scout Master for Troop 171 in Taylor Texas. He coached his sons in baseball. He loved fishing, hunting and the great outdoors. He and his wife loved Czech music and each of their children have earliest of memories of them dancing and his girls especially loved dancing with their Daddy. He and his wife loved traveling and even celebrated a wonderful trip to the Czech Republic. He was a faithful parishioner of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and served as a Eucharist minister. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, SPJST, American Legion and the Rio Grande Yellow Catters. He was a master at cooking barbeque, making Jitrnice and deer sausage with family and friends and he made a little wine. Frank Charles had a sparkle in his eye and a chuckle about life. His sense of humor is how he coped with many of the hardships of life. He was a strong yet tender man and he had a great will to live. He is survived by his wife G. Ann Krenek of 65 years, His children, Paula Marak (Eugene), Greg Krenek, Frank Krenek II (Nancy), Kathie Pfluger (David) Kristie Johnston (Scott), and Robin Krenek. He is survived by 13 grandchildren, Misty Marak, Kristopher Johnston (Helen), Frank Charles Krenek III (Shannon), Adam Pfluger (Christa), Jennifer Barrett (Ryan), Erika Greer (Ty), Whitney Krenek, Dillon Pfluger, Kelsey Krenek, Tony Johnston, Wylie Duxstad, Eden Krenek, and Max Krenek. He is survived by 7 great grandchildren, Zoe Horne, Kenna Greer, Scarlette Horne, Lennon Pfluger, Rowan Barrett, Peyton Greer and Daphne Barrett. He is survived by an extended family of grandchildren, Shannon Roberson (Lance), Kenneth O’Meara (Kelsey), Katelyn McKinney (Mark Scolaro), Ellen Ash (Johann) and Monica Axtell (Luke) and 5 step great grandchildren, Ashlyn Axtell, Ryder Axtell, Lane O’Meara, John O’Meara and Henrietta Ash. He is survived by Brother In laws, Frank, Bernard (Shirley), Andrew (Mary Ann), Raymond (Nancy), and Al Mokry (Barbara), Lucy Mokry and Virgil Klaus. He also is survived by many nieces and nephews. He was proceeded in death by his parents, sister Norma Lee Klaus, in laws Frank & Anne Mokry, brother in laws Gilbert Mokry, Alfred Mokry, and daughter in law Lauren Krenek, and by his cousin and best friend, Paul Becker.

Services on Saturday, December 14, 2019 with a visitation at 1pm followed by a Mass at St. Mary’s Catholic Church at 2 pm, in Taylor Texas. Officiating will be Father Keith Koehl. Burial will be St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery followed by a reception at Knights of Columbus Hall. In lieu of flowers, the family wishes donations to be given in his honor to St. Mary’s Catholic Church School fund in Taylor, Texas or the ROCK, Ride On Center For Kids (www.rockride.org) in Georgetown, TX. The family wishes to express deep appreciation to the nurses and physicians who cared for him at the VA, CLC, Baylor Scott & White and Will-O-Bell with special thanks to the SICU staff of Baylor Scott & White, Temple, Texas for this most recent care and tenderness to the family. He truly was a great man, a hard worker, a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, uncle, brother and friend.
