

George Reuter Davidson went to be with God, his creator and Heavenly Father on September 20, 2012. He died at home from complications of cancer and pneumonia. George was born in Pittsburg, Pa. on February 10, 1931, to loving parents, Francis Houser Davidson and Marguerite Reuter Davidson.
A Business Management graduate of the University of Pittsburg, he also played college football and loved to tell stories about those times. An ROTC graduate, George joined the United States Air Force and served 30 years, achieving the rank of Colonel. He was a veteran of the Viet Nam war, flew 287 missions in a B-57 Dive Bomber as a Master Navigator/Bombardier. He also served in the U.S. Weather Service, Strategic Air Command, and Military Airlift Command. After the war, he was assigned to the Air Force Personnel Center in San Antonio, appointed Director of Personnel at Kelly Air Force Base, Director of Assignments, Pacific Air Command, Hickam Air Force Base, Hawaii, and President, Formal Physical Evaluation Board, Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio. Awards include the Silver Star, Legion of Merit with one oak leaf cluster, Distinguished Flying Cross and numerous other medals. He married his is best friend, Air Force Nurse Officer, Captain Sue Elliott in 1975, at the Little Church of LaVillita, on the San Antonio Riverwalk. He and Sue were the first to move to Sun City Georgetown, Texas in February 1996 and have really enjoyed the experience. George loved to laugh, tease others and entertain with stories of his childhood, football and flying career. He was a generous soul and made many friends whom he cherished, especially his “flying buddies” in the Cen-Tex Modelers Inc. and Georgetown AMA. His playful, loving nature will be remembered by all who knew him and we will smile when we think of him.
George was preceeded by his parents, his brother Peter and his son Kurt. He is survived by his loving wife, Sue; sister Ann; sister-in-law Margaret (Peggy) Davidson; brother-in-law, Randall Elliott; daughter, Kim; grandchildren, Jerry Wayne, Alisha and Heather Potts. In addition, he leaves behind many cherished nephews, nieces, great nephews and nieces and his fur angels, his “girls”, Holly and Belle.
George will be missed every day, but as the line of a Chris Rice song goes. “And with your final heartbeat, kiss the world goodbye, and go in peace to laugh on glory side. Then fly to Jesus, fly to Jesus, “fly to Jesus and live.” What a blessing it is to know he is there. Many thanks to Hospice Austin and good friends who helped us on this journey.
Services will be held at Wellspring United Methodist Church in Georgetown, Friday, September 28th at 10:00 am, with Senior Pastor, Reverend Debra Crumpton and Reverend Carol Hoke officiating. His ashes will be placed in the Central Texas Veterans Cemetery in Killen, Texas.
