Geraldine Elizabeth Farrar Cockerham McConnell, lovingly known as "Gerrie", 93, of Georgetown, was called to Heaven on the morning of Thursday, December 5, 2013. A memorial service celebrating Gerrie's life and her unyielding faith will be held on Monday, December 16, 2013 at 11am at St. John's United Methodist Church, 311 East University, Georgetown, TX 78626. Gerrie's wishes were to be spread amongst a potato patch. Geraldine was born one of nine children to Edwin and Martha Matilda Manes Farrar on January 4, 1920 in McRae, Arkansas. She came to Texas in 1972; she spent many years in the Houston area, working for the A.B. Dick Company. Moving to Georgetown upon her retirement, it was here she made her home. In her retirement, she loved to travel to Arkansas, California or wherever she wanted to go, and always found a way to visit family. She was very active in Georgetown, especially at St. John's United Methodist Church, and regularly attended Sunday services. Gerrie is preceded in death by her parents, Edwin and Martha Farrar; her son, Douglas, in 2009, and all eight of her siblings. She leaves behind to cherish her memory: granddaughter, Loretta Rickner; grandson William D. Cockerham, great-granddaughter, Ashlye Lynn Cockerham, great-great grandsons, Aries and Alex; her adopted family, Fred, Melissa, Drew and Katy Barhydt; along with numerous other loving family and other church friends. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to St. John's United Methodist Church, 311 East University, Georgetown, TX 78626 Personal words of comfort and special memories may be sent to the family at our online guestbook at www.gabrielsfuneral.com.
