

Gloria Ann Powers DeVille otherwise known to many as, Ann, Anniepooh, Grandma, and Gaga, was born on May 6, 1943 to Lucious Powers and Mary Smith Powers, in Thomaston, Georgia as the youngest of 6 children. Ann graduated from R.E. Lee Institute in Thomaston, Georgia in 1961. Ann dabbled in a variety of careers over the years. These included an accountant with Delta Airlines, Dispatcher and later as a License Examiner for the Georgia State Patrol, and 911 Dispatcher for the Irving Police Department, just to name a few. Ann held memberships in a variety of fine art and community service organizations including: the Northwest Art Association in Fort Worth, Georgetown Lion’s Club, Georgetown Sun City Republican Club, Sun City Fabric & Fiber Quilting Club, and the Sun City Computer Club. With so many grand ideas, Ann had many interests to keep her busy including: canvas painting, wood art, sewing, quilting, cross stitching, crochet, and knitting. She also loved shopping, playing cards and other games, traveling, visiting with friends and family, and spending time cheering on her grandchildren and great grandchildren in all of their special events.
Ann was most known by friends and family by her sparkling blue eyes, infectious laugh and smile, bubbling personality, direct communication about her thoughts and feelings, desire to always hold and talk to any baby she encountered, and her desire to tell anyone that she is a ”Georgia Girl”.
Ann is preceded in death by her sister, Lavane Powers Brazil; sister, Celestine “Teeny” Powers Ellington; mother, Mary Smith Powers; sister, Caroline Powers Blackmon; and brother Drew Powers. Ann is survived by her oldest brother Bobby Powers in Stoneham, Massachusetts. Often referred to as my “Babydoll”, Ann is survived by her loving husband, Dwight DeVille, who brought her coffee in bed, made homemade breakfast every morning, always made sure she had her needed medications and water, and always encouraged her to attend various social events. Ann is also survived by her loving children, grandchildren and great grandchildren: son Russ Oxford and wife Tammy Oxford; grandchildren Mallory Majek and husband Josh Majek, and Aaron Oxford; son Rod Oxford and wife Karen Oxford; grandchildren, Ryan Oxford, Alex Oxford and Brittany Dearmore; great grandchildren, Kaysen Oxford, Braxton Oxford, and Adaleigh Oxford; Madyson Schneider and husband Andrew Schneider; great grandchild, Beckum Schneider; daughter Kim Fenney and husband John Fenney; grandchildren, Grace Fenney, Noah Fenney, Sarah Fenney, and Hannah Fenney.
In honor of the life and legacy that Gloria Ann Powers DeVille leaves behind, her family will be holding a celebration of life service at 1:00 PM on Saturday, September 14, 2024 at Cook-Walden Davis Funeral Home, 2900 Williams Drive, Georgetown, Texas 78628, with a reception to follow until 4:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, her family asks that your expressions of sympathy be shared in a donation to her most honored charity, Tunnels to Towers Foundation.
