

James Irving McPherson, age 81, of Georgetown, Texas, passed away on Monday, June 25, 2012. He was born on February 18, 1931 to Irving and Edith McPherson in Herrick Center, Pennslyvania. He married Carol Formanek on July 11, 1953 in San Francisco, California. James received a BS from Oklahoma University and MS from New Mexico both in Mechanical Engineering. He served as officer in the U.S. Navy. James retired from Boeing as a Mechanical Engineer.
He was a happy go lucky person with a quick wit. He highly valued education for himself as well as his family. James was a real gentleman who always was thinking about tomorrow. His hobbies include computer programming, engineering, science, learning and teaching, cars (especially his 1967 Mustang) and racing, astronomy, exploration, photography and reading his favorite magazine Discover. He was a member of the Elks and Mustang Clubs.
He is survived by his wife Carol McPherson; children, Colleen Richer (Julio), Peggy Rothstein (Steve) and Darryl McPherson (Yvonne); nine grandchildren, one great-granddaughter and another great-granddaughter on the way; and brothers, Edward, Harlan, and Dale McPherson.
A visitation is being held Thursday, June 28, 2012 from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. with a rosary at 7:00 P.M. at Cook-Walden Davis Funeral Home in Georgetown, Texas. A funeral mass will be held at 2:30 P.M. on Friday, June 29, 2012 at St. Helen Catholic Church in Georgetown, Texas with Father Robert Becker officiating. Interment will follow at Cook-Walden Capital Parks Cemetery in Pflugerville, Texas.
