J.C. was preceded in death by his parents J.N. and Hattie (Roberts)VanHouten, brothers Ervin and Charles VanHouten, sisters Iola and Inez Maynard, and son Olen Roy VanHouten.
J.C. is survived by his wife, Gwendolyn VanHouten of Leander, Texas; son, Forest LeRoy VanHouten and wife Jan Hill of Mt. Pleasant, Texas; sister, Mary Draper and husband Joe of Center, Texas; brother, James VanHouten of Burnet, Texas; and daughter-in-law, Gail VanHouten of DeKalb, Texas. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
The family will be greeting friends and relatives from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Monday, February 3, 2014 at Cook-Walden Davis Funeral Home in Georgetown, Texas. A graveside service will take place at 2:00 P.M. on February 4, 2014 at Bagdad Cemetery in Leander, Texas.
