

Joan Taylor Stevens, age 85, died peacefully in her sleep in Round Rock, Texas on November 17, 2022. She was born in Park City, Utah, September 7, 1937, to John L Taylor and Susan Armitstead. She was raised in Provo, Utah.
She met her eternal companion Darryl M Stevens, and they were married November 5, 1955, in Provo, Utah. They were blessed with 4 children, Jody (John) Raab, Mechanicsville, Va., Julie (Shane) Mitchell, Georgetown, Texas, Scott (Tami) Stevens, Edna, Texas, and Shari (Ralph) Jensen, Murphy, Texas. She leaves behind 13 grandchildren, Aaron (Rachel), David (Trista), Elizabeth (Jim), Sarah (Neal), Rebekah (Philip) and Matthew (Morgan) Raab, Cody (Kendra), Anjulie Mitchell, Jake (Zack) Mitchell, Storm Stevens, and Skylar (Kara) Stevens, and Derek (Julie) Heintzelman and Kyle Heintzelman. She has 22 great-grandchildren.
Joan was a military wife traveling to many parts of the world supporting Darryl and his service. While Darryl was on his second tour in Vietnam, Joan and the kids lived in Orem, Utah near family. She attended Cosmetology School. They both served our country.
They settled in Killeen Texas were Joan worked for the Killeen IDS Transportation from 1985-2003. She loved traveling with many school trips as their bus driver and later setting up their trips.
Joan loved to sew and quilt. Many benefitted from her talents. She also loved to play golf.
They sold their house in Killeen, Texas 14 years ago and bought a motor home becoming nomads and traveling the country, visiting family from California to Virginia and places in between. In the last few years, they settled in Georgetown and Round Rock near daughter and son-in-law, Julie and Shane.
Joan is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She held many callings including Relief Society President.
Besides family mentioned she is survived by a brother John Taylor, brother-in-law Don Stevens, sister-in-law Annaley (Bob) Davis, and sister-in law Pauline Stevens. Her sister Sharlene Sumsion preceded her in death.
Her family would also like to express their sincere gratitude to all her many friends who loved and cared for her.
Funeral services will be held December 3rd at 11am at the Cook Walden David Funeral Home in Georgetown, Tx.
