Joe was born November 21, 1932 in Austin, Texas and passed away on Friday December 7th at the age of 86 years old. Joe, a native of Austin, grew up on a dairy farm near Pecan Springs Elementary School and weathered the Great Depression. He attended Austin High School and Texas A&I University. Joe met his wife of 64 years, Betty Seiders while they were both out dancing with friends in Austin. They were married on September 4, 1954. Joe began his military career in the ROTC at Texas A&I in Kingsville. After serving two years in active duty, Joe served in the Reserves where he was promoted to the rank of captain in the U.S. Army Signal Corp. Joe worked as a teacher at Orange Grove, Del Valley and Elgin. Following retirement, Joe was a Real Estate Broker. Joe was also a faithful member of Pecan Springs Baptist Church, and after moving to Round Rock, he joined Victory Baptist Church. Joe had a passion for his ranch. He loved spending time riding the tractor on the land and fishing. In addition, one of his favorite hobbies was playing dominos with family and friends.
Joe's parents, Weller and Bess Seiders, five older brothers, Weller, Buster, PW, Bill, and Eugene, and one sister Helen all preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife Betty, sister Doris, son Jeffrey and his wife Yvonne, son Jimmy, his grandchildren Lindsay Evans and her husband Hunter Evans, Jessi Maupin and her husband Cale Maupin, Haley Seiders and Wilson Seiders and his two great grandchildren Kennedy and Jackson Evans.
A visitation and funeral services will be held at Cook-Walden Davis Funeral Home 2900 Williams Drive Georgetown, Texas on Wednesday, December 12th. Visitation will begin at 1pm and funeral services at 2pm. Graveside will follow at Berry’s Creek Cemetery in Georgetown, Texas.
