John Ray “Johnny” Malone, 65, longtime resident of Georgetown, passed away peacefully surrounded by family, in Coupland on May 10, 2021. He was born in the old Georgetown Hospital on Highway 29, mere blocks from his childhood home on Pine Street on May 31, 1955. He received his GED from Georgetown High School in May of 1976. Johnny had a few jobs as a delivery driver before he enlisted in the Navy and served from 1980-1981. After he came back home, he drove commercial deliveries both locally and long distance.
He was a huge historian, taking care of ancestors and relatives grave markers or headstones and always put flowers or flags out when appropriate.
Johnny was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil Ray and Georgia Ruth Malone. He is survived by his son, Joshua R. Malone of Florence and daughter, Rachel D. Malone of Coupland; cousins, Kenny Manning of Walburg, Bill Russell and Ralph Russell of Georgetown and Larry and Barbara Langston of Fort Worth.
A Memorial Visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Cook-Walden Davis Funeral Home on Sunday, June 13, 2021.
