

Kathryn Walden of Georgetown, Texas went to be our Lord and Savior on June 28, 2015. Kathryn was born on February 5, 1925 in Cross Plains, Texas to Fillmore Ross and Merle West Anderson. Kathryn is preceded in death by her parents, brother and sister in law Phil and Margaret Anderson of Winters, Texas, brother Robert Anderson of Lubbock, Texas, and sister in law Mary Lynn Anderson wife of Bill Anderson. Kathryn is survived by her brother William R. “Bill” Anderson of Saginaw, Texas and one sister in law, Jane Groce of Fort Worth, Texas and her three children: Phil Walden (Theresa) of Georgetown, Texas, Kathryn “Kay” Turk (Jim) of Mesa, Arizona and Suzanne O’Rourke of Georgetown, Texas, the children of Kathryn and Carey “Buncy” Walden. Three grandchildren, Stuart Walden, Cameron and Chelsea O’Rourke; numerous nieces and nephews and a host of lifelong friends.
Kathryn was a devoted and courageous single mother who worked tirelessly to ensure the wellbeing of her children. She spent her life placing them as priority. Kathryn was a dedicated employee. As a young woman, Kathryn worked in the Post Office in Cross Plains, Texas before transferring to Beeville, Texas to begin a career with the Department of Agriculture in the Farmer’s Home Administration. Beginning as a clerk she was promoted to Supervisor serving as a Civil Servant until her retirement after 30 plus years.
Kathryn was involved in her community as well. She has been a member of the First United Methodist Church since moving to Georgetown in the early 1960’s. She was a lifetime member of Beta Sigma Phi and was active in her Chapter in Georgetown. She served as a Boy Scout Den Mother, a Georgetown High School Band Booster and many other activities her children were involved in. Kathryn was a volunteer for the Georgetown Hospital. She enjoyed working in the Gift shop and helping patients and their families. Kathryn served the First United Methodist Church with her presence and also served on the Benevolence Committee, helped with the Georgetown Rotary lunch meetings, folded church bulletins and other activities as needed. Kathryn simply loved manning the polling booths during political elections. She was a faithful Democrat.
Kathryn’s life is celebrated by all who knew her and she will be greatly missed. Kathryn was a respectful Christian who knew the Lord and waited patiently for her call to enter His Kingdom. Visitation will be held at Cook-Walden Davis Funeral Home in Georgetown, Texas on July 13, 2015 at 5 pm to 7 pm. Funeral services will be held on July 14, 2015 at 3 pm at the First United Methodist Church in Georgetown, Texas. Graveside Services will be held at 1 pm at the Cross Plains Cemetery on July 15, 2015 in Cross Plains, Texas where Kathryn will lie next to her parents. Kathryn is the niece of Tom Anderson who is one of the founding fathers of The Cross Plains Review.
