

Kenneth Ray Schaefer, Jr., 78, of Leander passed into eternal rest on November 30, 2021. Kenn was born in Columbia City, Indiana, on June 20, 1943, to Mildred Robinson Davis and Kenneth Ray Schaefer, Sr.
Kenn joined the United States Air Force and made his way to Texas through Bergstrom Air Force Base. Working as a mechanic, he served two tours of duty in Viet Nam and was honorably discharged. While stationed in Austin, he met Grace Anne Maroneey who would become the love of his life and his wife of 49 years. They had one daughter, Anja.
Kenn attended Southwest Texas State University (now known as Texas State University) in San Marcos and earned a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice. He worked as a mechanic and wrecker driver for the Texas Department of Public Safety for over twenty-five years. After his retirement from DPS, Kenn worked for the Leander Independent School District as a substitute teacher and educational aide.
Most recently, Kenn worked as the general manager of the Lonestar Range and Academy in Florence. Always wanting to keep busy and involved, Kenn served as President of the Board of Directors of the Bagdad Activity Center in Leander. As a member of First Baptist Church Leander, he served as a deacon, worked with the youth, and helped start a College and Career Ministry.
Kenn was known for his generous heart and giving spirit, his incredibly dry sense of humor, his matter-of-fact view of life, and his devotion to Godly service.
Kenn was preceded in death by his parents, Mildred and Kenneth Schaefer; his sister, Jean Erne; his brother, John Schaefer; and his wife, Grace Anne Schaefer. He is survived by his daughter, Anja Schaefer; numerous friends and an extensive church family.
Friends and family are invited to gather at a visitation to be held from 6 pm until 8 pm on Monday, December 6, 2021, at Cook-Walden Davis Funeral Home in Georgetown. Funeral service will be held at 10 am, Tuesday, December 7, 2021, at First Baptist Church, 10000 FM 2243 in Leander. Graveside service will follow at Bagdad Cemetery in Leander.
